Nepal's 2nd Exhibition of Deaf Art
We are looking forward to Nepal's 2nd Exhibition of Deaf Art scheduled for the week of June 3rd, 2011. Entitled 'Eyes Empowered - Part Two', the exhibition will be hosted by a very special hotel in Kathmandu, the Summit Hotel.
The hotel was founded in 1978 by a group of Dutchmen who had - and still have - a great affinity for Nepal with her mountains, people, history and culture. And in this last subject of 'culture', beginning this year of 2011, Deaf Culture is being included in a prominent way.
Deaf Artists are encouraged to participate. All art done by Deaf Artists, especially art with a message or perspective that's Deaf Culture centric is welcome. To date, we are looking at Deaf Art from India and Deaf Art from Nepal all under one roof.
As part of the opening ceremony, we plan to project aspects of Deaf Culture through a Deaf Mime show, a brief demo of Dance Without Music and narration of a Signed Poem.
All Deaf Artists and other Mime Performers interested in participating need to get in touch by mail by the 3rd of May, 2011.
Looking forward to a great Deaf Art & Culture Week!
